I can look people up in armory, post their names, and say what age they are too. I would like to see you solo the raid instances if it's so easy. It's about time, not skill. I don't have the time of a well sheltered 11 year old kid.

Today, AoC is not at that standard. Now I'll grant you, it isn't "fair" that WoW was released at a time when that bar was lower, but that changes nothing about AoC's current situation.

well i think its a little different when buying an MMO. you are never buying a finished product, you are buying potential. even WoW adds new content all the time, every few months or so.
for people looking to buy an MMO, i think now would be one of the worst times to buy WoW. you are going to have to buy WoW, the xpac, and another xpac in a few months, thats a lot of money.
i think WoW is going to be left in the dust by games like AoC (if not AoC, then others like it), seeing as it most likely will never have a graphics update.

You Sir are Sad. Fact was when we played at home it was my husband and I, our 26 year old nephew and our 2 boys 16 and 11. If you feel so threatened by the fact WoW was the easiest MMO ever made and you need it to think you were Uber in it and need to call people liars and say they made stuff up is a little shocking.
I suggest theropy -- or Hello Kitty Online.

AoC makes WoW look like a study on Quantum Mechanics.
If you think AoC is in any way challenging then you probably have velcro shoelaces.

Did I state AoC was or was not easy? Or was I talking about WoW the whole statement. Really it's responses like this and the other trolls that makes me remember I should listen to my husband when he says forums are like arguing with children who can't read or read a sentance and make an ass unmption.
The thread is about launch issues and AoC is no different than any other MMO but in my opinion -- mine not every person in the world -- worth playing now and haning out for. when things get lined out.
Be relevent please.

You implied it.
You stated specifically (and claimed it was a fact) that WoW is the easiest MMO ever made. AoC is also an MMO. For WoW to still be the easiest MMO ever made it would have to be easier than AoC.
It is not.

Well, sorry ma'am, I thought you were a dude. I am sad indeed, I need therapy. First time I heard hello kitty online was on south park, please be more original. I am not threatened by the fact WoW was the easiest MMO ever made, all games are easy. I was not uber in WoW either, I really didn't care for it since I only played it for fun. That's what games are suppose to be right? You shouldn't be shocked, this is the internet.

I for one and not rushing the game, played since early access and am Loving the hell out of my lvl 42 Priest of Mitra. And yes there are bugs in the game as in Every MMO at launch. I was in EQ2 and WoW's beta and played both at launch and between server crashes, loot lag, log in ques that put you at number 649 to log in and bugs from hell, for about the first month or 2 weren't even playable. And so much content and gear were missing at launch. How long did the players have to wait for Molten Core when so many hit the level cap at 60 in a few weeks? Months. How long did it take to put in Battlegrounds and reputations gear that was advertised at launch? Not until the end of 2005.
Another thing everyone seems to forget is when WoW came out they got LUCKY about time frame. In the mid to late 90's when EQ was big -- it was not common yet for every household to even own a computer let alone if they did to have more than dial up AOL speed. MMO's popularity grew and so did household computer access over the next few years as well as connections to the internet. When WoW launched in 11/04, it was common to have even 2-3 computers per household and broadband internet access. Also for anyone who played the old games of EQ, DAoC and Lineage knew WoW was the EASIEST MMO to come out to play - which with that and computer accessiblity contributed to it's success -- not that it was the Best MMO made. MMO's used to appeal to the college to mid to late 30's crowd. Now since WoW is so easy, the 14 year old can play with mom, dad, little sis (10) and grandpa. (Don't laugh, we actually had that family in our guild /sigh)
AoC is by far not the most polished game at the moment but it's been out 3 weeks and do not make it sound like WoW or EQ2 were any better at ALL at launch and after 4 years they are about 89% into fixing all the crap that's been messed up for years. I played and was bored to death with the e-sport gear grind that became WoW. If I had to choose between that, or sticking with a beautiful game that is fun to play and takes me back to the old MMO days of Dungeons and Boss competes and actual play with no 'I win' button, I'd choose AoC any day of the week and twice on Sunday rather then play an MMO with training wheels and the gear grind that is WoW.
I will stick with the challenge of AoC and gladly be around when the kinks get worked out laughing at the snobs who's First MMO was WoW and didn't start to play it until mid 2006 when it hit 6 mil people and got advertised and have no idea about launch in an MMO. You make yourself sound like one of them by your remarks about AoC in this article.
In fairness, make a review when the game has been out 3 months -- it would at least be more accurate -- then maybe you can write about more dungeons you missed like the Maze and the Pyramid and the Outlaw tunnels and also aobut Tortage starting points with different Characters send you in different directions and quest lines for destiny quests...........stuff like that.
Pretty much says it all.
|
I absolutely disagree with you post. The original reviewer you are disputing basically summed up every though I had about this game since leaving Tortage.
This game is good if and only if you're willing to overlook packs and packs of hideous problems. If you truly don't care about itemization, world economy, crafting, meaningful PvE combat, questing past lvl 50, horrid class imbalance, meaningless PvP, including terrible PvP minigames and non-existant PvP goals etc etc etc and only focus on two-three successful items (decent improvement to the combat system, good grapics/excellent sound, and a excellent stable launch), I can see where you can say this game is a wild success.
....but you need serious, serious tunnel vision.
