This is my music production rig, I run boot camp with Windows Vista (which actually runs pretty well on a MacPro) for gaming and recreation.
I know some of you are going to say "Get a gaming PC" but that isn't in the cards.
I'm thinking of getting a nVidia 8800 GT. But I'm curios how much FPS advantage I will get with it running at 2560x1680 which is a very high res. I can run just about any game now at full settings with my ATI x1900 at the standard 1024x768 res, but obviously on a 30" that looks terrible.
So just wondering if I might get nearly the same result with the nVidia. It seems there are a few gaming cards coming out now that are build for HD rez (30" is still higher than that) and they are powered to push that many pixels.
Thinking I should wait? Or would the 8800 GT get some good FPS now. Is there anyone that is running a 30" monitor with a 8800 GT that can testify to great framerates?
I'm also considering just waiting to see if there is an ATI fix. I can run the game maybe 20fps in Old Tarantia now.

Large monitors need more RAM.
30" is a big monitor - you might want to go for a SLI configuration too.
Otherwise, run the game in windowed mode, shrink the window and deal with it in a smaller resolution.
