WHen i have the spike i asked other people and they all said they had the spike as well so must be server related..

If you have the 4 digit lag problem ask in OOC .. if other people have it post it here.

I've been looking into this pretty seriously today, since I noticed that it happens regularly and on a nearly predictable timetable.

Anyway, I've been monitoring my connection, and I've noticed that each time the latency spikes, the AOC client is attempting to make a connection, on port 80, to this address:

http://aoc-us-control.live.ageofconan.com/

If you go there in your browser you see this message:

"Nothing here, move along citizen."

Pretty funny. I'm not sure what that periodic call is DOING, but it does seem to be what's causing my periodic lag spikes.

The next step I suppose would be to analyze the actual packets being sent to that address.

On another note, I tried uninstalling/reinstalling just to see if it was maybe an error with the client/patches but nothing has changed.

That is very interesting. Wonder what the 'us-control' bit is all about?

I have reinstalled this game so many times over the last few weeks I've lost count.

I have been able to play perfectly for two days straight, I didn't see anything in the patch notes about a fix but it seems to have worked for me.
