The problem with the survey and the list is they ignore a lot of factors and only really take into account what individuals feel is a class that seems to be op to them. I laugh when I see people say things like "x class is easy to play therefore it is op". No class is incredibly difficult to play though some obviously take longer to master than others. I agree with what others say that some are more gear dependent than others. If you took all classes at a relatively low gear standpoint, then rogues and mages are incredibly powerful. I think the reverse is true once you reach the top of the gear threshold.
Let's assume that we set a standard for balancing in that:
A) The player is a skilled player. A person that would do well on any class they played for long enough. The top 10% in skill factor.
B) The classes are equally geared near the top of the gear threshold. So say a full mini set with a decent amount of AA's. Decisive, pressing, elusive, maxed. Wards all 4/5 or higher. Sprint, stamina, cc removal, and the most relevant archetype AA's maxed, and their relevant class AA's maxed.
C) We define what area of pvp we are talking about, assuming this is about pvp balancing. World pvp isn't all that common. Duels exist but are a pretty small group of people. Sieging is almost non existent. Premades are almost non-existent. So for this, they need to define it as pug minis since pug minis are what makes up 90% of pvp.
C) We clearly define what exactly OP means. IMO, OP can't rely solely on kills nor KDR. For one, the formula for kills doesn't always indicate who actually ensured the kill. Secondly, kills isn't the end-all for minis. The ultimate goal in a mini is to win. So OP for me is the class that can contribute the most to their team. A class that can carry the team through healing, disruptive play such as dots, cc's or killing, or complete objectives more effectively than others are what defines OP in my book. Feel free to disagree if you want.
Here goes:
1) DT
2) BS
3) POM
4) Guardian
5) Tos
6-9) Barb, Demo, Ranger, Sin
10) Conq
11) Necro
12) Hox
That being said though, I think there are a lot of stupid abilities for a lot of classes that regardless of where I put them on the ranking, should be changed for the betterment of the game. I feel that there is way too much burst damage in the game and off the top of my head, the biggest things that need changing right now are:
VOM, Soldier damage in Frenzy stance, Arcane marauder, tts, atg, wave of flames, lotus overload, conq break-though, necro dot length, overall power of heals in pvp, hfb interrupt, and stagger ability.

What class seems OP depends on what the person you ask plays. Ask a demo, they're more likely to say sins are OP. Ask a sin, and they'll tell you demos are fine but guards and DTs are OP. Ask a tank and they might complain about unkillable shammies. Ask a HoX or a conq and they'll tell you the other 10 classes are OP.

I really hope that Funcom doesnt screw this up bc people cry about other classes abilities saying, "its too OP i cant kill them as easily, it's not fair, they do to much damage i die blah blah blah." oh my god people. shut the **** up.
I love the classes as they are now. yeah so a sin/barb runs away faster bc of an ability that allows them too big deal get them when they come back. oh a ranger that uses range.. or a caster...and? they're suppose too. oh a conq that charges me and i get knocked back and my butt hurts now, get rid of it. ha its stupid guys i could go on but its idiotic too. ****ing think about what you're doing in a mini game or world pvp just pay attention when you do pvp in general. maybe work as a team and stay with the team you might do better.
thats what makes pvp fun in this game, knowing or ig not knowing that that class or person playing the class might be better than you. and having AA's and gear and xp of the classes hell yeah its still balanced. dont expect to win 100% of the time and cry everytime someone got better and/or you lost

I stopped considering this a serious post when I seen tos above barb, demo, ranger and sin.
You are either high on some other **** while playing or you playing on a non retail server.

obviously he hasn't played the game in 2 years. I look at the list to see who is on the bottom, not the top. As a dev, that would be my starting point. All you ****ers are like nerf nerf nerf. We should be helping classes, not nerfing at this point.

It seems pretty fair.
The only thing i would change is barb, imo the lsit should be:

Imo, barb is one of the most atrocious OP class right now reaching 50% moviment modifier in a era we dont have stamina to sprint for 4 secs.

how in the planet that survey put the dark templar in the third most op class , and then the demo, like seriously what in the planet where those people smoking? the demo is more op than a dt on any given scenario.

I put demo as the most OP as well. It is one of the highest DPS toons, two insta casts, highest CC immunity even over guardians, most CC's, speed boost, damage reduction bubble, healing pet, and on top of that the highest range on any toon.
DT is incredibly OP but it is only a couple people that are making this class shine. An amazing player is able to do this on any class, it is just that at the top end the DT really shines. For anyone that thinks it is easy to play, show us... I would laugh as casters don't land a single one handed combo and then get burnt ridiculously fast as they have no taps up.
