We are looking for a RAID leader! Either a current or returning player! Fast-track to becoming an officer!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Free Companions guild on Tyranny was founded in July, 2011. We are one of the newer guilds on the server. Many of the other guilds have been around for a few years or they are old guilds with new names (guild
renown level is a good indicator of this - select Tyranny server). As far as size, we are a medium sized guild: not so big that you get lost, and not so small that there is no one on.
As the name implies, the Free Companions represent freedom and camaraderie. We are a mix of avid and casual players who are mature and friendly. Some of us play daily, while others are weekend warriors. Some of us concentrate on PvP, while others focus on PvE. All play styles are welcome.* Our end goal is to have fun playing AoC. We are active in most aspects of the game, and as we grow we will be involved in all aspects.
Recruiting: Yes, veteran and new players!
(We need a veteran raid leader!)
New Player Friendly: Yes
Guild City: T3 Keep, Armorsmith, Weaponsmith, Alchemist Workshop, and Thieves Guild. The rest is T2.
Ventrilo: Yes
RP: Light RP**
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN NEW MEMBERS:
- We want mature players.
- We want proactive players that are seeking a challenge - the challenge of growing a new guild. Not players that expect the guild to do things for them.
- We want players that are patient while we grow and also patient with other personalities in the guild.
TO JOIN:
We accept most players and will give anyone a shot at becoming a full member. To join, do one of the following: find a member in-game and send them a message; or send me a game mail; or use the Players and PVP window found on the top-left of your game interface. Select the Guild tab along the top and set the Level Range: 1 to 80; Member Count: 5 to 999. Guild Name: Free Companions. Then search, select us, and Apply for Membership. If you don't receive a guild invite shortly after applying, that means no officers are online. Try again in a little while.
ORIGIN OF OUR NAME:
Our name was inspired by the mercenary army in Hyboria created by Robert E. Howard, author and creator of Conan. The Free Companions were a band of warriors, from all races and cultures, united in their common interest (usually plunder!). Like any mercenary group , the Free Companions were loyal only to the unit and had no master outside of themselves. In a nutshell, that describes our guild. We are a loosely formed guild allowing for great personal autonomy. We band together by choice, not coercion. We are open and tolerant with the personalities that join the guild.
Join us as we tread over the lands of Hyboria!
-------------------------------------------------
NOTES TO ASTERISKS ABOVE:
* We do have two exceptions in pvp. The Free Companions do not consider 'griefing' or killing low level characters legitimate play styles unless well deserved by the recipient. We tend to be the "good guys" in Hyboria. Keep that in mind when joining. Sorry to be blunt, but asshats need not apply.
**Light RP? What does this mean? Some of our guild mates like to RP. Some don't. Generally speaking we do not RP in guild chat. You can, but don't expect others to do the same. In short, we are RP friendly, but it is optional. We accept RPers but most members are non-RPers.
If you have any questions, please send an in-game mail to Konarc.
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN JOINING THE FREE COMPANIONS:
1. We are still relatively new and we are still growing. When you join, you will become an integral part of our guild and help shape who we are. Other guilds have older players that dominate the guild personality. Some players do gravitate towards that so they can hang back in the wings and enjoy the benefits that have already been forged by past players. You will not find that with us. We are dominated by newer and returning players. This leaves room for new players to leave their mark on our guild.
2. We have a great group of intelligent and personable people in our guild. Conversations in guild chat or over voice chat sometimes range from sports, to Broadway shows, to world events. Obviously chat is normally about the game and members usually answer game questions in chat, but you never know what you are going to get when you log on. What you generally don't get is crass conversations, which brings us to our next point.
3. Juvenile behavior is generally not tolerated in the Guild Chat channel (what you say in group or tell messages is up to you). While we enjoy goofing around and having fun, our conversations are not centered around narcotics use. If you enjoy getting high, that is your business. If you enjoy getting high and then telling everyone in guild chat about it, that isn't tolerated. Keep it to yourself or join another guild. Many of the more populated guilds pride themselves on intoxication levels. We seem to be the exception.
4. The average age of our membership is probably in the 30s somewhere. We have players in their 40s+ and we have younger members in their 20s. What matters most is your mental age. There are enough players on the server that act like they are 12 years old. You will see them in Global chat writing idiotic things to each other. We don't need that. We like to keep things mature in our guild.
5. Know thyself and choose your guild carefully.
