I've played on Wicanna, Tyranny, and Cimerria (although it has admittedly been a while since I played on the PvP servers). The level of competition in minis on Wicanna has gone up considerably in the past several months and is now pretty close to where I remember Cimerria and Tyranny being about a year ago. There are still a few weak players here and there, but the overwhelming majority you see in minis now are players who PvP first.

For the record Zoah compares favorably to any guard I went against on the PvP servers, and I'll say that he probably would have been one of the better players there at any time.

Im not at all saying that Zoah wouldnt compare and do well.. Its the circumstances of Cimmeria, it seems like 60 percent of the pop there are rangers.. With no general in frenzy you are gonna be destroyed. At times, in maps like Js there are 16 rangers and the rest random classes. If he manages to survive in frenzy stance with his Aoe stuns against 8 rangers focusing him with an odd Bs and a good demo hox etc.. I would be suprised.

His criticism for guards that are feated into General is that, they suck because they play easy mode because the more abilities makes it harder to play. Under the circumstances in Cimmeria atm, you are basically forced to spec General, unless ofcourse u have a full mini game gear or bori set. Although even than on Cimmeria you will be looking like A GuardSin getting destroyed by rangers and will respec with a few days there. All builds are viable and can be played but sometimes certain builds are needed depending on situations.

well even though a troll necro'd the thread, I did try temp/general for 2 days when I got my new computer and i was still rusty, after switching back to temp/jugg there's simply no comparison, smart player + tools > taking a little less dmg/doing a little more damage.
a stun, an anti cc, an extra snare, a 20 cooldown charge all of these are going to stop more damage than any amount of protection could hope to, alternating charges ensures targets don't get away, sorry but you're not playing guard to it's full potential if you don't pick up all the cc's.

as far as rangers, I love them in minis, the fact you're getting melted by rangers has little to do with having a little more armor and, more to do with not being able to stand your ground and stunning charge them.

i'm not the average guard gear/aa wise for sure, t3 polearm + minigame gear + near max offensive aa's, so maybe with an undergeared/underaa'd guard i could see an argument, but not really.
