Solo is a pain though, I remember on my guard I just went in D stance and ran to guards (across the zone) for safety.
An SnS Guardian is lowest on the aggro list by quite a way, followed by DTs who don't spec PoM.

Oh, and even as a Polearm Guard competing against a Conq with Retaliation on the same CD as CoH but generating more aggro plus the Ret shield, in addition to 360* combos to say that Guards are the best AoE hate-generators is a bit far-fetched. Even a DT with ZoG, PoM, CoG, CoP running and pumping out SoC will smack a Guard at AoE Hate.

And personally my DT has just as much survivability as my Guard, can't wait to get the faction full plate set so I have the same %Mitigation.

Is there a reason you cannot reply to my original post Kastos?

I'll use Sil's most recent response concerning the revamp:

After those two are done we will assess which class we think is most appropriate to look at after that, I don't think we have a set schedule after the Ranger and Guardian yet.

YES there will be a definitive Guard revamp. It's likely to come after the Ranger improvements which are currently 'in the pipeline' but won't be likely to hit us for a few weeks at the very least.

Guardian is a straightforward class to play. Not overly complicated, but still fun (though that may be because I'm relatively new to level 80).

I hope they don't take away the pvp effectiveness. I also don't think guards are that bad in pve, but again, maybe it's the novelty factor.

Maybe it's the full T2/T3 talking, but I have no problems at all holding aggro in raids, and I do it much better than DTs and conqs. And before anyone says my guildmates must be bad then I'd point out my guild is probably a lot further along in raid content than yours. Likewise, if I was on any other class or wasn't there raids could not go on for my guild - guardians in my opinion remain essential to raids (at least one).

Yeah, I've seen Guardians able to hold aggro quite well and tank raids extremely well (duh). But that's because their tier gear is so much better than my crafted blues. I've had my Guardian since '08 and I still have no raid gear. Because of that, my ability to tank isn't as top notch as other tanks. Guardians are extremely gear based endgame and it shows.

The aggro disparity may be due to guards having hate increase rating on their raid gear, while conqs and DTs do not. So conqs and DTs have higher initial aggro, which slightly increases with their damage due to raid gear.
Guards have lower initial aggro, but have a greater increase because of their raid gear. That said, once Conqs and DTs start getting pieces of the Black Dragon set and using them to tank... Im a bit worried...

From what i've seen, a Guard in full T2 (Or mostly T2) will be pretty much unstoppable in terms of aggro, as many of the more experienced Guards have pointed out. One of the issues is that at lower gear levels (Blues/T1) Conqs and DTs have a fairly significant advantage due to the extra offensive stats and the fact that at that level of equipment generally Guards won't be able to drop too many survivability feats.

Maybe generalising a bit, but as the-gunny and t0ucheone point out, a T2 Guard is pretty awesome.

What about it? Generates less aggro than SoC, similar aggro to Retaliation and costs 4 more feat points than either of the other two. Also has no extra bonuses whereas Retaliation has awesome Ret. damage, and SoC has huge +Healing, a DoT, Mana drain, HoT and instant Martyrdom (Not that anyone uses it much for that).
