I think overheating has nothing to do with this problem.

I have also tried 3 different ATI drivers, I still get memory leaks on all of them. I have tried re-installing dx9c, didn't help either.

Also I get memory leaks faster on low settings than on high settings.

We have to figure out exactly what feature of the engine is causing this.

Definitely loving Thermalright! I'm also running an Ultra-120 for my Q6600. Love the way they look as well hehe. But, the cooling is ridiculous. Max Temp in HWMonitor I've seen for my gpu so far is 56C and it is really humid and hot in my room today. Once I install the A/C back in here I bet I'll see even lower temps
I also picked up a new 120mm fan for my ultra 120. noticed Scythe has some new fans out there that run at 1200 rpm and push 68.5CFM of air. My old scythe was 1600 @ 63CFM. Can't go wrong with quieter and more air

It may not be, but I am not the first person that has fixed our crashing problems by looking into our hardware. Doesn't hurt to explore all possibilities.
The thing is, AoC seems to be like a seriously hardware intensive game.
I could play TF2 and Crysis no problem without crashing from my card overheating, but not AoC.

Edit: I'm not saying it IS a heat issue. But, it could be. Or, something else might be crapping out on you. You never know. I was pissed I spent $100 for the collectors edition and crashed like a mofo constantly. But, now I'm good to go

I checked my Prefs_2.xml and it says my shader model is -1, is that right? I though it should be 1, and we manually change it to 0.

I had mine stable for a while with 169 at 1280x800, 16xAA. It was after I tried going higher to 2560x1600 that it became unstable again. Now it is back to 1280x1600 and no AA, but it is unstable again and some textures are screwed up. Cannot see Ruined Flesh skill.

Nope, -1 means it is set for shader 3. I have found that removing the newer drivers from Nvidia and installing the 169.xx drivers made a huge increase in fps. The game also still forces shader 3 even after setting it to 0 in the prefs file. This is where the older drivers seemed to help because it is no longer reverting it to shader 3. I also think they still are having a problem with AMD processors. They are not as optimized for AMD as they are for Intel.

wow this is nuts.

i run a 8800gts and had no probs whatsoever until i left tortage a couple days ago. i had been getting 20fps inside tortage, and about 50fps outside tortage on noob island. i've been running on a little better than the medium settings.

i now get a graphic card crash (pretty sure)in khemi. i am getting ridiculously low fps, about 6fps. i can play for about 10 min before the screen freezes, then goes to black. i cannot alt f4 or alt tab out, the display just crashes out. it seems to me that it is my card overheating and dying. the card itself is only about 6months old. I then have to hard restart the computer.

my biggest gripe here is that i have REPEATEDLY tried to lower graphic settings to low, remove the WATER SHADOWS and every time i restart or go in to the vid options i see that the settings are re set to higher. WTF is up with that?

Right now this is unplayable, and considering the opening of the game shows the 'nvidia, the way it's meant to be played' logo, i'm pretty pissed off. i'm well over the recommended specs, and i'm pretty sure this game is gonna fry my card if i keep trying to log on.

ISNT THIS THE KIND OF STUFF BETA IS SUPPOSED TO SORT OUT????
cmon

i dont have the same card as the one i've seen mentioned..i have GeForce 6800 XT, but the problem sounds like it might be related. When I enter the game i can get about 15-25 fps..which for me is playable but after about 2 minutes of running around my fps drops to 3-5 and stays at that range
