All our combos have 3 to 4 damage groups in one attack.

White Damage based off Slash, 2Hand
Combo Damage based off Fire Melee
DOT or Burst Damage based off Fire Magic

Burn to Death V has 4 damage groups Slash, 2Hand, Fire Melee, Fire Magic


Each gem only affects the damage out put of the like part and not all damage types show up in the combat log like they should.

In the case of BTDV you have to execute 4 White hits before the combos go’s off for the 5th Fire Melee Combo to execute and the Fire Magic DOT to take effect.

A higher DPS weapon or Slash, 2H gem will net you more white damage

Fire Melee gem will net you more combo damage

Fire Magic gem will net higher DOT

Prock damage “Gem, Feet, Buff”
As to what % I do not know.

So higher damage weapons do in fact increase over all damage when executing a combo because of the higher white damage but the combo damage part of the combo it self is only effected by our level the level of the mob or person, armor class resist, debuffes, buffs, immunities or vulnerabilities and Melee fire.

I don’t know much about gem types and from what I cant find there are no Fire Melee gems for armor if there is can one of you tell me what kind and where to find them?

Just like to point out that fire melee isn't the only gem responsible for combo dmg. Any +melee dmg will add to both white melee and combo dmg.

I have full a scything set. My white melee against equal level mobs lands for 600ish, my combos land for 4-7k. I have zero fire melee dmg.

Is that damage the same in DE or AOX. I was thinking that the fier melee part of the combo would do more damage because of the buff to fier melee? If not ill get 13 fier magic 13 2H and 13 slashing?

I found out after i posted the above that there are only fier melee for your weapon not your armor.

Thanks Faustina for giving me the final nail in the coffin of my 80 hox. They ve completely ****** the hox and so I'm leaving this game for War. I really hate Failcom for all those hours I wasted on my hox. I really do! This game had so much potential. I cant stand the thought of rolling another toon through Tortage. I hate to flame but can you blame anyone who has an 80 hox. The Hox is ****** end of story.

Agreed, and no I don't blame you since I'm doing the same. I actually stopped playing a couple of weeks ago and have been playing Guild Wars till the WAR open beta.

I would probably stick around if I saw any sign of things improving, but AoC actually seems worse now than it was in beta (especially for hox's). I still think this game has potential and I may re-visit in 6-12 months, but FC are just taking too long and for every bug they fix, they introduce several more.

From all reports coming in now since the NDA was lifted, WAR is freakin awesome, but I heard that about AoC too so I'll reserve judgment till I've leveled a toon myself...about to kick off in the preview weekend....

Fiery weps, procs.. and plus fire damage info you stated still a problem? as of.. Feb 2009?

Is your info that you posted still the same? or has any of that.. terrible news been fixed/improved?

I dont know how or what has changed since the op, but I have done some parsing of my own. Not much, but here is what I came up with.

With my playstyle, hellfire breath is my number 1 damage spell/combo. That being said:

I parsed these two swords against each other:

Lamentatus, with +magic damage and +fire damage

vs.

Diregore, with +physical damage
http://aoc.yg.com/item/Diregore/734649

Lamentatus won with a small but substantial margin. So my conclusion is that while magic and fire damage might not do much, its better than physical damage.

Maybe with this new rush for AoC lately, we might get a new informative post about our fire damage to replace this out dated thread...any wisened volunteers to go parse our firey dmg

Unless nothing (no improvements) has changed to our class since a year ago.

Once the changes for Patch 1.05 are testable I'll be getting on this. To totally review the coefficients for every spell etc is a long process and I'd prefer to do it once changes for gear are stablized.
