Question PvP w/ noob Demo

Total PvP noob here with a few questions about a Demo. Does the Search skill work at all with this class? While I don't have it maxed out, I've put a fair number of points into it, but I can never find any of the other players in hiding waiting to kill me. I click the button, the little bar comes up, and nothing happens. Is the Demo class just not suited for this skill?

Hide is more straightforward in the sense that it's obvious when it's working, and when you've been spotted. Same question though: Is it appropriate to spend skill points on Hide as a Demo, or is that just a waste because the class inherently is bad at hiding?

It would seem to me that Hide and Search would be natural skills for a Ranger or Assassin, and that either of these classes would be naturally better at it (given the same skill points as a mage, for example).

Any help here would be most appreciated. Thank you!

Check out the forums for demologists: that would be a lot more useful imo than using the search engine.

I have hide on all of my characters, but if you have a pet out it is a bit self defeating. The search option works better if you put a lot of points into it, but the person has to be pretty close in my experience for it to go off. I mostly use it for minis to find the hidees, sometimes in sieges to look for ninjatrebbers...but rarely in world pvp.

Hide is good for the melee ambushers since they get a bonus for attacking out of stealth. Frankly, throwing an aoe spell is going to work pretty good to pop them out of hide. And an aoe spell regens a lot faster than the search option.

I would put most of your skill points in more useful things. Fill out caster concentration, get 250 in climb if you don't want to have to jump off ledges at vistrix, I don't have any in the 'rest' feature things because I don't use 'rest'...its a pick and choose.

Hide is useful in some places like Chatha wing2, Yakmar if the raid leader wants you in hide and for getting through some pvp areas (without your pet out). I put a lot of points in hide and some in search.

Hide is good against guards, but a lot of mobs will pop you out even with a lot of points in it. It does make it less likely mobs will pop you out or that a player will pop you out. But not guaranteed if you put more points in it.

put points into search?

you mean perception?

perception works both on "SEARCH" skill and just wandering around. your chance in level PVE (X10) if you note. is to find ppl stealth around your vacinity. same with HIDE.

say your lvl 39 in a area with lvl35 mobs. your HIDE skill is on 340. the lvl 35 mobs will easily see you and possibly always pop you from stealth. however if you put your HIDE @ 350 ( note lvl 35X10) they will have a tougher time spotting you. same with pvp but its vs's there perceptions i think

the skill SEARCH is what u use when u think there is ppl around you to find. i use it esp when someone is on res pad tryna do the bolt and run from retribution, they try to hide u do a search straight away. finds them. yes the bar that comes up is usually how long the "search" skill lasts. also try and move your character's arc just slightly while the search is taking place. cover's a wider area

that might help you understand.
im probably not as acruate as some figure head. but they will obviously correct me. =D

works, but you need more search than ppl hide. Forget about it, strike an AoE and you will find ppl in a better way.

Rougues are just fast and dont spend stamina hiding. By the way "you ve being spoted" thing is a annoying bug sometimes. You can have it maxed and be spoted by a rabbit.

A high enough perception also allows for tracking hidden players, as they sport a blue circle around them you can see move....
