New Player Channel: Horrifying
On Cimmeria, this channel was like turning on the lights to be frightened at the number of cockroaches coating the floors and walls.
And sad, because I think New Players need a place to find good advice.
While I can certainly unsubscribe, I find it's like seeing a car wreck - utterly horrifying, yet strangely I can't turn away ...

You have a perfectly valid point friend. Your brought up something that is true and I doubt many before you have brought it up and your not here to troll so long as that stays that way then whoopie.
As horrible as the idea is to give everyone a way to chat in a entire region which creates a mega OOC. Getting groups is now easier and might I say selling items is WAY to easy with it. But then attempts at recruiting for the Guild meet people insulting our Guild name. We are called Legion. Okay it isnt all that original. I dint pick it but what gives you the right to pick on it!
By the way any Dagoth players Legion is recruiting Mature players. We currently have the Keep made in our Guild City.

I started a new character on Hyperborea yesterday, in the beginning it wasn't so bad, I actually helped a few new players in that channel, but once we neared US primetime it got worse. Really bad actually, so much bullshit being posted there, that if someone had a question you were lucky to actually read it before it was spammed away.
After I while I turned it off, I tell you silence is bliss

I think it took me all of 30 seconds to turn that channel off. I've as much use for it as I do the OOC channel.

I think it took me 5 seconds after log in to remove the NPC, OOC, and Stygia/Cimmera channels.

I played on my alt tonite/this morning (on Cimmeria) between about 3am to 7am and this channel kept me going (Hadn't played in about a week, so this was new to me). There was some fun, and interesting convo. AND ALSO, everytime someone had a question, a new person, it was answered promptly, whether by me or anyone else that was just talking about random things. No one was left in the dark, and it was also for some interesting, funny, serious conversation.
If it bothers you...turn it off, but the help was there, and so was the "community" socializing. I realize some channels do get outa hand AT TIMES, and I will occasionaly leave it, but it's not like all the time it does, so I'll eventually come back to see what's going on. Just learn to socialize, not just in your guild or party what have you. If you wanna keep yourself solo and secluded so be it, but leave the others who don't out of this, and keep yourselves out of the channels than.
EDIT: Note: My normal play times range between 10-11pm EST and so forth to about 3am to 7am EST. I have odd work hours and such. So, I don't often see what goes on in "Primetime," but please don't say US primetime, as I've met just as bad or worse, Europeans, Aussie's and what have you. There's bad apples in every tree, don't just pick on them out of the big tree because it's big. Think of more as a percentage than a whole number.
We're all here to socialize and have fun, solo sometimes, and in groups, however you prefer, but keep in mind, it is a Massive Multiplayer Online game, so human interaction will always be there, if you don't like it, avoid it, turn it off, whatever. If it still bother's you even though you can't see it, quit the game and go back to single player games. There's plenty of ways to avoid this without having the need to come on the forums and whine about it, where the same people that are in those channels, will be here (Though, with far worse attitudes in here than ingame.)

The Newbie Help channel was a nightmare for me and I couldn't wait to turn it off.
At first when I logged in my alt I was excited about having a help channel to ... you know... help new folks coming in, but it became clear soon enough that that wasn't going to happen. It's like all the socially inept kids found a new toy so flocked to the channel in droves to spout never ending streams of stupidity.

I am not seeing this chat channel anywhere in my chat box options. How exactly do you access it please?

Right click on the tab and a list of options will show. I forget what one shows the channels though sorry. I'll check here shortly or maybe someone else knows.

I find personally it is a lot easier to find groups this way. I'm glad it was implemented.
