According to the recent summer survey, RP is the least favorite activity in AoC.

I found this interesting. The RP community is small but still pretty active. I respect their endeavors, to each their own. Crafting is still being worked on as the current project though. Personally, that is what I want to see, regardless of opinion. Crafting in this game has sucked forever. If it goes well, people may be able to make gear comparable to what they find in Dungeons....IF.

This is bullshit IMO,
PVE is on the top of the charts. I think PVERs are just less LAZY and they were the ones that actually did the questionair.

The freakin issue is the NEW GEN of AOC players HAS NO CLUEEEEEEEEEEEEE what guild PVP is and has no CLUEEEEEEEEEEEE how fun it can be because it is so damn broken!
this just really makes me want to quit playing

Pretty sure aoc is the best RP game out there. the 40 people who done it must have been hardcore straigt pve'ers it seems

Yes, as much as crafting sucks, it is still seen as more enjoyable than RP according to the survey. Yet in another part of the survey, I think "player housing" was ranked at a higher priority than "RPG content."

To me, player housing is more of an RP focused thing and part of RPG content. Though, maybe their idea of "RPG Content" is simply more of the usual go here, collect some heads and bring them back kind of premade quest. Or more things like buying unique itemsfrom guild city vendors. Oh wait, would that be guild content? Heck I don't know.

But I do know when you use the campfire item from a guild city vendor in an NPC city, a guard comes and pisses your campfire out and flips you off.

I'm still the worst PvP necro ever but as an RPer, I support the /duel flags for good old fashioned street fights.

Wars between guilds where members of opposing guilds are flagged as PvP attackable by the other guild in the open world would be awesome.

I filled out the survey, and lobbied as hard as I could for RP stuff. Maybe they should interpret that low rating on roleplaying as "the total lack of support for roleplaying in this game makes it blow utterly, please fix it so it's easier and more enjoyable".

At least player housing ranked solidly in the middle of the pack, so we may yet see something on that. And maybe next year after all the PvPers /ragequit, the survey will reflect roleplaying as a more important aspect of the game. ^.^

I am truly not surprised at this result at all. On a whole, RP has died in this game. Don't get me wrong, there are still plenty of RP'ers out there. However, compared to how it used to be it is a tiny sliver of what RP was like. Massive alliances of 6 or more guilds with in character meetings. Guild wars did exist back then. You could find RP just about anywhere at any time. At one point on Hyperboria there were at least 20 active medium to large sized RP guilds around.... possibly more.

However, back before Craig became the GM it became very obvious that RP was NOT their focus. The GM's started to stop enforcing their own RP rule set on their RP servers (yes, there were RP servers and more then one back then) and the game started to cater to the PvPers over all else. Then Craig came in and started to cater to the PvE hardcore players. 2 GM's and both ignored the RP community. Needless to say, most left the game long ago.

I didn't pay any attention to the poll, so not sure what questions were asked and how...

But did people truly say RP was the least enjoyable activity? Or were they ranking what they spend most time on.

Those are very different questions, with very different explanations behind them.

A question for you: Why are you posting that here anyway? Were you thinking that we'll stop if someone tells us that the things we enjoy aren't considered fun by a bunch of other people we don't know?

Also, in terms of new content and game development, it doesn't require a lot of new content. So even someone who enjoys RP a lot, along with other aspects of the game, would still likely prefer other areas get more development time.

I just don't get why this is any kind of big deal.
