I just resubbed after a long long time gone. When I left +dps gems were all the craze/cheese. So I now have an entire set of full plate Bluesteel armor that has 3 red +1h blunt combat rating gems socketed. Even on neck rings and cloak. First off it says gem overflow and I have too many gems in the items I need to remove them. It doesnt allow me to just drag them out how the hell am I supposed to remove the gems since they switched it up on me?

Second, I've heard that this is decent starting armor. If someone could confirm/deny that and tell me how to properly gem this armor it would be highly appreciated, thanks.

You can buy the potion "Tainted Alkahest" from people on the trader to remove gems. Don't bother, it'll be easier/cheaper to get new stuff made or go for culture gear.

Amazing, they changed how the gemming works and I am supposed to buy something to fix it. I love how this works.

Just get new armor and put in prot gems. The protection gems are Uncut Corundum. Which is what you want in the bluesteel set.

Also may want to buy culture head/legs/chest.

Since you will get PvP 3 like a week if you hardcore.

Culture is crafted level 78/79 gear, main pieces have 2 gems slots.
Other crafted include the Stoneheart gear, level 80 plate.
The khitai dungeon blues are good if you're not tier/pvp geared.
Otherwise it's the old onyx Steelspirit set and the pieces from iron tower, xib and crows.

Alternatively, if you can find any pug raids, it's fairly easy to pick up a few purples these days. Although it is a tad bit harder as a soldier because people actually expect you to tank unlike other classes that can get away starting raids in greens.

I only done 2 raids so far but in those 2 raids there was always someone with better gear than me so I got to offtank. I wouldn't worry about it just ask for an offtank position, and there will most likely be a guard with better gear to fill the role of main tank.

TBH for PvP raid gear is next to useless. You want gear with protection. SO obtain crafted gear with white gem slots.
