Just built a new computer. Everytime i shutdown the comp and restart, and go to play AoC. AoC gives me error saying i need to update my video drivers. I'm running a 5870 with latest drivers. If i reinstall the driver the game start's up fine. This is really bugging me.

Have you updated your DirectX files? Run the web installer and it will download all the incremental updates made to DirectX that aren't included in the default installation: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...D-85FC422D1388 What ATI driver did you install? 9.10?

I updated Direct X with the installer. I'm useing the latest driver from ATI/AMD's website.

Still get the error saying i dont have the latest video drivers to play. I have to reinstall the video driver just to play the game, it is a pain in the azz. Anyone know of a fix?

w7 is so buggy, i recommend reinstalling vista if you have it. thats what i did. people are touting w7 as flawless but its far from true. vista works perfectly now whereas w7 is exactly like vista was at its launch.

frankly i didnt see any significant improvements over vista after installing windows 7

as far as your particular issue its no surprise at all. wish i could offer more than that but im a nvidia user and always have been.

I already have the driver installed. It is just after i reboot computer and go to start AoC, I get the message saying that i need to update my video drivers. So i have to reinstall the video driver, even though it shows it already installed. Just to get AoC to run. But like i said. If i reboot or shutdown the PC. AoC gives me the need to update video driver.

LOL, you're NUTS.

Windows 7 is exponentially better than Vista. Did a fresh install and it runs like a dream.

I've been running betas and RCs for Windows 7 now since the first releases were made available to MS partners on a variety of platforms. I've had no problems with it at all and it has thus far been one of the most stable Windows based operating systems I've worked with. About the only one I like more for a working environment would be 2008 R2.

No idea how you would fix your problem though, but I suspect you might be experiencing an issue with ATI and their drivers and Funcom somewhere in the mixture.

I would certainly not ditch Windows 7 in favour of Vista. That is just silly advice. Silly I tells you!

so it's AoC saying you need to update your video drivers, not Windows. Can you ignore the AoC message, and does the game continue to run fine?

well i found w7 to be buggy as hell , obviously i require more from an os than just stability like the ability to play my old games without having to install an old os partition like xp :P

and it didnt run very stable i think people just buy into the hype too much. its a new os and as such there are going to be flaws.
